While everyone was watching the Saints and Lions play a thriller in Detroit, LSU volleyball swept Southeastern Louisiana 3-0 in Hammond Sunday afternoon. With the win, LSU moves to 4-3.
LSU won set one 26-24 and outhit SLU .256-.125. The Tigers dominated set two 25-13 and outhit the Lions .323 to -0.129 (6 kills, 10 errors). LSU closed it out 25-21 in set three and outhit Southeastern Louisiana .324-.258. It was a very quick (1 hour and 35 minutes) sweep of an outmatched opponent. The only issue that
made the match longer was service errors, something which LSU had nine of compared to Southeastern’s three. Overall, LSU outhit SLU .299-.088.
Tigers cleaned up in the individual stats, and five Tigers had double-digits in their biggest categories. OH Jurnee Robinson led the offense again with 18 kills and became the seventh player in program history to reach 1500 kills. Her 1506 ranks fifth in program history, and she needs 84 to tie fourth place. OPP Camryn Jeffrey also recorded 11 kills in the match. S Takyla Brown led the team in assists with 26, while S Lauren Brooker added 15 of her own. L Kiley Brooks recorded 15 digs to reach 100 for her career in just her seventh game.
LSU moves to 13-1 all-time against Southeastern Louisiana. LSU’s next two matches will be at Miami (FL) in the Canes Classic. The Tigers will face Miami (FL) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on ACCNx, and they will face Tulsa on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in a game without a stream. This will conclude non-conference play for LSU volleyball.
