According to a report from journalist Absolut Fussball journalist Christopher Michel, Bayern Munich attempted to get Hertha Berlin central midfielder Kennet Eichhorn during the winter transfer window:
Kennet Eichhorn is an exceptional talent. In the winter, #FCB pushed hard to sign him. The race for the Hertha midfielder is still wide open. #SGE #Eintracht are digging in deep as well. The report from
@BILD_Eintracht matches my information.
Eichhorn figures to be one of the most sought after youngster this summer and it will come at a time where Bayern Munich will likely be looking to invest in the position as Leon Goretzka is slated to leave the club. It is unclear if the pursuit of Eichhorn in January was driven by Goretzka’s potential exit (he had offers from Arsenal and Atlético Madrid) or if this was just part of the long-term plan for the Bavarians.
Recent reports indicate that Bayern Munich could now just focus on keeping Noël Aseko Nkili (on loan with Hannover 96) rather than chase Eichhorn any longer, but that is a story that will likely continue to play out in the coming months.
