Vincent Kompany handed Lennart Karl his first ever Champions League start at home to Club Brugge, and it paid dividends almost immediately as he scored the opening goal after only a few minutes. Bayern’s
Belgian coach liked what he saw from the team but is wary of people jumping the gun on Karl.
“Of course, the performance was good today. We could have scored more goals and we kept a clean sheet. It was a good home game”, Kompany said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia) We also saw a lot of young players today. Lennart Karl showed in an important game that he can help us, but I’m not a fan of hype. If he keeps it up, he’ll get his chance throughout the season.”
Karl also needs to do his part and make sure that the hype isn’t for nought. As Kompany mentioned, the 2008-born ought to keep it up and work on different aspects of his game.
