The Phillies announced that shortstop prospect Aidan Miller will have surgery this Friday, June 5th to treat discogenic pain and facet inflammation in his lumbar spine. The full release:
Coming into the 2026 season, Aidan Miller was the consensus top prospect in the system and ranked by many national outlets as a Top-25 prospect in baseball. After a slow start in 2025, Miller ended the season strongly in AA Reading with an invite to participate in the Arizona Fall League. He finished with .264/392/.825
line in 116 games across two levels with 14 homeruns, 42 RBI, 59 stolen bases and 82 walks to 123 strikeouts. His stock was skyrocketing. However, he would never play in the Arizona Fall League and didn’t participate in Phillies Spring Training (with some hoping he’d replace Bohm/Stott in the lineup). We knew it was a recurring back injury keeping him out, but didn’t know the severity until now.
Let’s hope for a speedy recovery and Miller back in action in August/September to finish the season.
