The schedules for UConn men’s and women’s soccer’s 2026 seasons are out. Chris Gbandi’s squad will play 17 games, 12 at home, while Margaret Rodriguez’s side will take the field 18 times, with half of those coming at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in Storrs.
UConn women’s soccer
UConn will play a pair of exhibitions, first on the road against UMass on Aug. 5 followed by UNH at home on Aug. 9. The Huskies will kick off the 2026-27 athletic season with a trip to Stony Brook on Aug. 13. The official home opener comes against former
Big East rival Rutgers on Aug. 20, which will be part of a double-header with the men.
The rest of the non-conference slate features Boston University (Aug. 23), LIU (Sept. 6) and Vermont (Sept. 25) at home as well as Brown (Aug. 27), West Virginia (Sept. 13) and Harvard (Sept. 20) on the road.
UConn begins Big East play at St. John’s on Sep. 30, one of five conference matches away from home alongside Xavier (Oct. 10), Creighton (Oct. 21), Marquette (Oct. 24) and Villanova (Nov. 7) in the regular season finale. The Huskies will host Providence (Oct. 3), Seton Hall (Oct. 7), DePaul (Oct. 17), Butler (Oct. 28) and Georgetown (Oct. 31).
Last season, UConn posted an 11-4-3 record and finished third in the Big East but were snubbed by the selection committee and left out of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies lost three-time All-American forward Chioma Okafor as well as starting center back Anna Carson and a handful of other contributors, but return midfield stalwart Anaya Johnson, starting goalie Ava Yamas and a strong core beyond them.
UConn has won 10+ games in three straight seasons, its longest such streak since 2013-16.
UConn men’s soccer
UConn begins play as part of the doubleheader on Aug. 20 against Syracuse. After that, the Huskies will travel to UMass on Aug. 23 before beginning a five-game homestand against Fairfield (Aug. 27), Western Michigan (Aug. 30), Brown (Sept. 30), Fisher College (Sept. 6, also a doubleheader) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 9). A trip to Harvard (Sept. 12) as well as home games with Siena (Sept. 22) and Bryant (Oct. 6) close out the out-of-conference portion of the schedule.
They open the Big East slate against Seton Hall on Sept. 18 and will also host DePaul (Oct. 10), Providence (Oct. 24) and Georgetown (Nov. 6). They’ll journey to St. John’s (Sept. 26), Marquette (Oct. 16) and Xavier (Oct. 31) for conference games as well.
UConn men’s soccer is coming off a 12-5-4 campaign and its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018. As the 13th overall seed, the Huskies earned a bye into the second round and knocked off Cornell 3-1 at Morrone Stadium. They were then eliminated by No. 4 Maryland, 3-0.
This season, UConn will play seven teams that also made the field of 48 in 2025: Syracuse, Western Michigan, Seton Hall, Siena, St. John’s, Bryant and Georgetown.
For the men, this will be its final fall-only season. In 2027, Division I men’s soccer will move to a two-semester schedule with a maximum of 18 games from late August to the Saturday before Thanksgiving followed by no more than 10 contests from mid-February through the end of the regular season. The NCAA Tournament will take place in in the spring.
Women’s soccer will continue to play exclusively in the fall.
