Frank Sanchez played spoiler earlier today (Sat., May 23, 2026) at ‘Usyk vs. Verhoeven’ LIVE on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from the Pyramids of Giza in Giza, Egypt, as the Cuban contender laid waste to previously undefeated heavyweight prospect Richard Torrez with a massive second-round knockout (uppercut punch).
This heavyweight matchup was one of the most interesting on the entire card. Sanchez was coming in as the established veteran name with recognizable wins in the division, while Torrez was taking
a step up in competition and hoping his punching power carried over into the next echelon of heavyweight foe. Unfortunately for the 26-year-old Torrez, his time to shine was not on Saturday alongside the pyramids.
Instead, it was Sanchez who rose to the occasion and sparked the rising contender on arrival. It took Sanchez less than two rounds to land a perfectly-timed and perfectly-placed uppercut that connected flush to Torrez’s face and sent him crashing to the canvas. Torrez was badly hurt and couldn’t make it back to his feet as Sanchez walked away with his most high-profile win to date.
