The Los Angeles Rams will be without starting cornerback Jaylen Watson for the rest of the year after placing him on season-ending IR with a shoulder injury on Wednesday. The free agent signing who was added to fix one of the Rams’ biggest defensive weaknesses will have surgery on said shoulder and miss the rest of 2026. Watson was injured in Week 8’s win over the L.A. Chargers, looking as though he was unable to even lift his arm after going down.
In a season full of bad news for the Rams, the hits
keep coming.
The Rams signed Watson to a three-year, $51 million contract in the offseason and paired him with former Chiefs teammate Trent McDuffie to fix L.A.’s issues at cornerback from last season. Watson had 24 tackles and an interception over seven games prior to injury. The team will now need to turn to their reinforcements like Emmanuel Forbes for the foreseeable future.
At least the Rams do hope to get back Myles Garrett soon, as he began practicing this week.
The Rams have already lost Kobie Turner and Poona Ford to IR, while Garrett hasn’t played since Week 1 and McDuffie has missed time as well. Aaron Donald has not played at 100% all weeks either. Matthew Stafford has elbow soreness and Davante Adams ruptured his hamstring. Terrance Ferguson just started practicing again.
Is there a power station nearby and we don’t know about it? The Rams play the Commanders this Sunday, but without Watson.
