The Guardians just announced the 26 players they have chosen to play the White Sox in the American League Division Series beginning in just a few hours.
It is the same roster the Guardians had to end the season, minus Austin Peterson and Slade Cecconi.
No Rhys Hoskins for the Hoskins haters. Interesting that the Guardians prefer Schneemann in that 14th position player spot. Schneemann did hit a homer last Sunday after two weeks off. Also,
the Guardians apparently prefer the options of Joey Cantillo, Tanner Bibee and Foster Griffin in potential relief roles over Slade Cecconi.
I think my primary wish was that the Guardians would have gone with a Ralphy Velazquez or Cooper Ingle in that 14th position player spot, just for the chance of lack of scouting reports giving them a shot at a homer. But, I definitely respect “riding the horse that brought you.” If there are baseball god vibes to be respected, this roster does so (unlike when they left Ben Lively off the ALDS roster in 2024).
Let’s go, Guardians!
