The injury to New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo was gruesome and demoralizing, but the infectious rookie shouldn’t be gone long.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Skattebo faces
a 6-month recovery after a successful surgery on Sunday Night.
Rapoport reports that Skattebo suffered a fractured fibula as well as a ruptured deltoid ligament in addition to the dislocation. Despite the severity of the wound, Skattebo reportedly faces a relatively simple recovery process now that it’s been surgically repaired.
For those wondering, no, he didn’t also suffer a shoulder injury. The Deltoid Ligament is part of the ankle joint, helping to connect the foot to the leg, as well as support and stabilize the joint.

A six month recovery window would put Skattebo’s return some time in April or possibly early May. Barring setbacks, he could be ready for Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and should be ready for Mandatory Minicamp in June.
The Giants will have to make due without Skattebo for the next nine games, but they might not have to wait long to get his energy back in the huddle.
