As John Cena approaches his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he’s turning his attention to life beyond wrestling. From the sound of it, he’s ready for what’s next.
Appearing on the Joe Rogan
Experience , Cena, who has found Hollywood success for a decade, was asked whether he plans to go all-in on acting. While that’s part of the plan, the 17-time world champion is focused on living a full life.
“The goal is to live useful. That’s it. The goal is to live useful and not lack a depth of purpose in my life,” said Cena.
He added that he can’t control whether his “phone rings” for roles, but, as in WWE, he’ll make every opportunity count.
“I want to give you my heart and soul. And when I leave here, you may be like, ‘Uh, not my cup of tea, but the kid’s all right,’” Cena told Rogan.
When asked about his interests, Cena discussed his passion for music and his love for taking long drives. He said that he never read much as a kid, so now he’s reading more. He’s also enjoying time spent with loved ones.
Cena, who remarried in 2020, admitted, “Boy, did I miss out on loving connections in my life. So I’m like, I have them now, and they’re so cool.”
He reflected on years of worldwide travel, saying most of his time was spent in airports, hotel bars, and arenas. Now, he wants to actually explore.
“I want to know what Tokyo is all about. I’ve been there like 20 times. I haven’t seen shit,” said the future WWE Hall of Famer.
First, though, comes one last challenge: Gunther, infamous for his punishing chops. Cena’s last night in the ring won’t be gentle, but he’s embracing it.
“It is an honor to face off against an opponent who I respect and who has earned the right to issue this final challenge,” Cena wrote on X. “I will bring my best, I know he will do the same!”
