Max Caster has made it clear that he’s not currently accepting any new wrestling bookings following his highly-publicized exit from TNA, but he recently did not rule out returning to AEW.
Earlier this month, Caster made his TNA debut for the promotion’s Bound for Glory PPV (Oct. 11). As he walked to the ring, Caster performed one of his trademark freestyle raps and immediately ignited controversy.
The former AEW tag champ referenced recent attacks on Saudi Arabia in one of his bars. He rapped: “This
the firing squad, I drop bombs, you don’t even have to fly to Riyadh.”
By the end of the following day, TNA announced it was parting ways with Caster. He soon issued a public apology and then made a surprised appearance at Awesome Championship Wrestling’s Mischief Night II in Poughkeepsie, New York, on October 17.
Caster also got on the mic and told the fans in attendance that night that he was taking a prolonged break from wrestling.
“I don’t know what my next move is. I don’t know where I’ll be. But I will be stepping away from the ring for an extended period of time,” he said. “So I’m gonna go home, I’m gonna go to therapy, I’m gonna get it right, so that the next time I’m in the ring it feels like I’m at home just like you guys made me feel here tonight. So finally, for the last time in a long time, you are looking at the best pro wrestler alive.”
While a return to TNA seems unlikely at the moment, Caster indicated during a virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest on Monday (Oct. 26) that he would be open to another run in AEW.
During the signing, he was asked about returning to AEW.
“It’s wrestling, right? You never say never,” Caster replied. “However, I am saying no to wrestling bookings right now, and that would be a wrestling booking so, I don’t know.”
Regarding his appearance for K&S WrestleFest, he said: “I agreed to do the virtual signing a couple months ago, I think. I’m honoring this…This is my last wrestling thing for a while, so whoever’s here, I’m sure somebody is clipping this, waiting for me to say something crazy. I’m going to try not to today. But, this will be the last time you guys see me for an undefined amount of time.”
The former AEW star, who held both World Tag Team Championship and World Trios Championship for the promotion, also put over his former employer.
“I always got to shout out Tony Khan, because he’s supporting a lot of wrestlers living right now, including me. I’m still living off AEW money,” Caster said. “That’s a guy who, for whatever reason in his heart, is supporting wrestling and supporting wrestlers.”
