There have been multiple travel advisories and security warnings surrounding the Riyadh airport in the wake of repeated attacks in the form of air strikes. This is noteworthy because WWE has been scheduled to head for the area to run its Crown Jewel premium live event on Nov. 7.
Reports have had it the company is “uncertain” about the show but officially there has been no word either way. In fact, they’ve been suspiciously quiet on the matter.
That silence was broken, indirectly at least, during Monday
Night Raw this week when promotion for the event got underway in the form of a match announcement:
The Crown Jewel championship matches are back, which means Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will be taking on Women’s Champion Chelsea Green, as seen in the graphic that aired on Netflix this evening. Presumably, that also means World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns will be squaring up against WWE Champion Sami Zayn that same evening.
Either way, this marks the first time WWE has officially promoted the show as taking place in Riyadh despite the current situation. We’ll see if that holds in the days and weeks to come.
