“Savage” wants a title shot.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Strawweight finisher Gillian Robertson returns to action against former title challenger Amanda Lemos in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 114 this weekend (Sat., March 14, 2026) inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After seven years of inconsistency inside the Octagon, Robertson now finds herself riding a four-fight win streak and knocking on the door of a potential title shot. If she can get past Lemos — especially with another finish
— she believes it should be enough to push her over the line for a championship opportunity against current titleholder Mackenzie Dern.
“I think with the most finishes of any woman, the most submission wins of any woman, this will be my fifth win in a row — I don’t see why I wouldn’t deserve the title after this weekend,” Robertson told MMAmania.com during UFC Vegas 114 media day.
Setting aside the politics of the rankings — which rarely mean much in today’s UFC — a matchup between Robertson and Dern would be a fascinating clash of elite grapplers. Both women are among the best submission hunters in the division and rarely shy away from attacking on the ground.
It’s also a fight Robertson believes fans have been waiting to see for years.
“This is a fight that has been in the making for years at this point,” Robertson said. “With Mackenzie being such a highly accomplished grappler outside of the UFC and with me being the submission queen inside the UFC. It is something everyone has wanted to see — and why not for the belt?”
Indeed, Robertson currently holds the most submission wins in UFC women’s history and is tied with the great Amanda Nunes for the most finishes by a female fighter in UFC history with 10.
The only potential obstacle could be the return of former two-time champion Zhang Weili, who may move back down to Strawweight in an attempt to reclaim the title she previously vacated — the same belt Dern eventually captured.
For now, though, Robertson’s focus remains squarely on getting past Lemos this weekend.
Time will tell.
