Arsenal are monitoring a potential move for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali ahead of the summer transfer window.
“Corriere della Sera now reports that the 26-year-old is up for sale and Arsenal are in the race for his signature,” the Mirror reported on May 19, citing the Italian outlet.
The Italy international, who will miss the 2026 World Cup, has attracted significant interest following his performances in Tyneside during the past few months.
“Manchester United lead the way as things stand,” the report
says in a warning to Arsenal’s hopes for a transfer. “If he were to leave, the Magpies would demand a fee in the region of £87m,” the report says.
Tonali’s contract situation also strengthens Newcastle’s negotiating stance, with the player under contract through the 2028-29 season.
