Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti delivered some good news regarding Turbo Richard and Rolijah Hardy during his usual game week press conference on Monday afternoon.
Both Richard and Hardy suffered injuries during the Hoosiers’ 29-23 win over Northwestern last Friday night, with Richard leaving the game and Lee Beebe Jr. delivering a strong performance in his stead. Hardy also left the game after a tackle on Wildcats quarterback Aidan Chiles.
Here’s Cignetti’s full quote when asked about the
two:
“We got really good news on Turbo and he’ll be day to day. I’m optimistic he can play Saturday as well as Rolijah Hardy,” Cignetti said.
This is, obviously, very good news for Indiana. Richard’s injury wasn’t readily apparent aside from his lower leg getting caught and the running backs room was already a bit thin without Khobie Martin, who’s still recovering from an arm injury suffered during non-conference play. Hardy is a key member of the defense and Indiana’s depth at linebacker is pretty untested, so his availability is also key.
Indiana is set to take on Rutgers at 8 p.m. on Saturday night at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey.
