The Carolina Hurricanes host a Metropolitan Division foe tonight as the Columbus Blue Jackets visit the Lenovo Center. Game time is 7 PM.
Not only do the Hurricanes lead the league with 22 points, (10-2-2), they have been a dominating hockey team since before the end of last season. Before going 16-3-0 in the postseason, they posted an 11-3-1 record on a hot streak since March 10th of last season.
That gives the team a remarkable record of 37-8-3 in their last 48 games. (That’s over a 130 point pace
for an entire season, but who’s counting?)
After returning home from a long road trip, the Canes are coming off an impressive 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. This is a game where the home team typically has trouble finding their legs after the extended road trip, but the Canes dominated a good part of that one.
Pyotr Kochetkov was in the starter’s crease during the morning skate, so look for him to put his 8-0-0 record on the line tonight. The rest of the lineup looked to be the same as last game.
Taylor Hall and Jordan Staal remain out.
Carrier – Aho – Svechnikov
Blake – Stankoven – Ehlers
Martinook – Jankowski – Jarvis
Robinson – Kotkaniemi – Deslauriers
Slavin – Chatfield
Miller – Walker
Gostisbehere – Valimaki
The Blue Jackets are having a rough season so far, although they are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers and a 2-1 overtime win over Vegas their previous games. They have 10 points and a 5-5-0 record to date.
They are led by Kent Johnson with 10 points. Charlie Coyle and Zach Werenski have eight points each.
