Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was perplexed when he saw a report
break that he wanted another player during the transfer window.The manager discussed the topic and was stunned to see the report.
“This is completely out of the blue. I didn’t even wake up thinking about that. What we discuss internally stays internal. But I’m totally surprised that something like this was circulating in the media; I never woke up thinking about it. I wonder how this came about. So many things quickly become
topics of discussion without any truth behind them,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Sporting director Christoph Freund backed up the head coach and also denied that Kompany was pushing for one more big signing.
“We talk every day and we’ve never talked about this,” Freund said in a terse statement.
BFW Analysis
It all seems like much ado about nothing and maybe not even worth entertaining at a press conference. If Kompany wanted another player, would it be a big deal? No. Almost all coaches want a little more talent or depth for their respective rosters.
However, Bayern Munich is keen on keeping the optics in line and want to appear unified. Good on them for wanting to address such reports and topics in an effort to down out any distractions.
