Well, it is time to look towards 2026, at least a little bit. The Washington Nationals 2026 schedule has arrived. We can now map out what the road ahead looks like for what is hopefully a more successful season.
One thing that stands out right away is how difficult the start is. The Cubs, Phillies
and Dodgers are the first three matchups. All of those teams should be in the playoffs this year.
In the Davey Martinez era, the team tended to get off to lethargic starts. If they don’t come ready to play out of the gates, they could be in a deep hole before we know it. Hopefully the team will be reenergized with a new manager.
The home opener being against the Dodgers is very exciting. Should be a packed house to see a new look Nats squad face off against the biggest stars in the sport. The Nats have actually held their own against the Dodgers in recent years.
One thing that gives me PTSD is the Nats playing the Marlins and Rockies back to back. That was the run in June where the Nationals season truly went off the rails. It was during that long losing streak and was when Davey Martinez gave the infamous “it’s never on coaching” line. Hopefully that goes better this year.
It is exciting to look ahead and see a new beginning. This has not been an easy season for the Nats, but there is always next year. With the schedule coming out, next year is closer than you think.
