TCU true freshman guard Kayden “Bugg” Edwards, one of the highest-ranked recruits to come to Fort Worth in the Jamie Dixon era, will reportedly enter the transfer portal after one season with the Horned Frogs. Edwards, a four-star recruit out of Duncanville, played in 14 games and averaged 3.2 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Edwards becomes the third guard to leave the program this offseason, following Jace Posey and RJ Jones.
Edwards arrived at TCU as the men’s basketball program’s third-highest ranked recruit in program history. The 6-foot-2 guard chose the Horned Frogs over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma State and USC. Edwards, who scored a season-high 14 points against Jackson State on Dec. 29, shot 44.7% from the field and 43.5% from the 3-point line as a true freshman. Edwards will leave the program with three years of eligibility remaining.
While TCU has junior guard Brock Harding returning for one more season, the Horned Frogs will need to hit the portal hard for backcourt players. Jayden Pierre (senior) will graduate from the program and with Edwards, Posey and Jones portaling out, TCU will have multiple guards spots open. One of those could be claimed by incoming four-star JUCO recruit Trent Lincoln, one of the best junior college recruits in the country.
