It’s getting closer to becoming officially official. Moroccan international Ismael Saibari has completed his medical in the United States in New Jersey near Morocco’s training base camp ahead of completing a move from PSV Eindhoven to Bayern Munich, as per Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Saibari will be joining the German Rekordmeister from Eindhoven for a fee of around €52-55m on a deal that will keep him in Munich through 2031. While the medical and personal terms have all been agreed
and sorted out, it’s not expected that his official signing will take place with Bayern until after the World Cup is over, or within a certain period of time after Morocco’s tournament is over.
As per Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, Saibari will not officially become a Bayern player until July 1st and the club does not plan on releasing any official announcements prior to that date. The same is true for the other side of the coin, as PSV don’t plan on releasing any information until at least July 1st, as well. If everything goes according to plan, which it’s fully expected to, Saibari will officially become an FC Bayern player at the beginning of next month a few weeks ahead of when Vincent Kompany expects all of his non-World Cup players to report back to Säbener Straße for preseason training ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Saibari scored Morocco’s loan goal in the 1-1 draw against Brazil in East Rutherford, New Jersey in their opening match of the World Cup and he’s coming off of a season where he tallied 19 goals and 9 assists from a total of 37 appearances across all competitions as PSV went on to win the Eredivisie.
As far as tactics and positioning are concerned, it’s been reported that the plan for Saibari at Bayern is to use him as either a secondary striker, a number 10, or as a backup to Harry Kane — very similar to the roles that Serge Gnabry plays at the club. Saibari perfectly fits the profile of what Kompany was looking for this summer and more than replaces Nicolas Jackson now that he’s gone back to Chelsea after his loan spell at Bayern.
