Bayern Munich’s big addition in attack this summer, Luis Díaz, has gotten off to a sizzling start. The Colombian winger scored with a pinpoint header in the Bavarians’ season opener, a 2-1 win over cup holders VfB Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
From afar, Thomas Müller looked on with approval. The newly-minted Vancouver Whitecaps attacker may be gone from Bayern, but Bayern has not left his heart.
And Díaz has dazzled with his first impressions.
“Luis made a good start and was immediately
involved,” Müller said in comments captured via @iMiaSanMia. “I found him to be extremely hard-working in his style of play, and he has a great understanding of the game. He’s always active and, as a winger, often gets into good positions in the penalty box, so I see him as a very positive signing for FC Bayern.”
As for Díaz’s goal — floating unassumingly into space and then latching on perfectly to score at point-blank range — that’s right up Müller’s own alley, isn’t it?
“His goal in the Supercup fits perfectly with my analysis,” Müller noted with a laugh.
