After their most impressive win of the season on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors are running it back against the San Antonio Spurs. Just over 48 hours later, it’s a rematch between two of the most exciting teams in the West … albeit ones that get there in very different ways, and with players of vastly differing ages.
Both teams will have their stars available, but both will be missing a key young player. Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (bilateral knee patellar tendonitis)
Kuminga was questionable heading into Wednesday’s game … which was also the contest in which he was moved back to the bench. He did suit up for the Dubs 125-120 win over San Antonio, but he didn’t look fully healthy, and left the game in the second quarter. His injury isn’t expected to keep him out for a long time, as he was questionable ahead of this game, so he’s day-to-day. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him on the court Sunday.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL surgery)
If I had to guess, Melton will probably get on the court sometime around the start of December. He’s been traveling with the Dubs through their six-game, five-city tour of the south, which means he’s nearing a return.
Spurs
Out — Dylan Harper (left calf strain)
The Warriors didn’t get to see Harper in either of their games in San Antonio, and that’s a bummer (though good for their chances of victory). June’s second overall pick has been highly impressive in the limited time he’s been on the court this year.
Questionable — Julian Champagnie (right hip contusion)
A fourth-year wing who went undrafted, Champagnie has really developed into a high-quality role player for the Spurs. He’s been averaging 28 minutes per game, but only played 20 against the Warriors on Wednesday, due his hip. He also played in all 82 of San Antonio’s games last year, so if he misses this contest it will be his first absence since March 3, 2024. Impressive!
Enjoy the game, Dub Nation. You can catch the contest — which is Golden State’s second NBA Cup Group Play game — at 6:30 p.m. PT on Prime Video.
