The year 2026 begins at midnight tonight, local time.
As such, it’s a good time to look back and see what brought you, the BCB reader, to the site most often during 2025. For reference, here’s the article on the most-read BCB articles from a year ago.
For you, the most-read article for the year that’s ending today wasn’t one of the top news articles. I won’t post a spoiler here, read the entire list.
As I have done previously, I’ll count these down from No. 10 (fewest page views) to No. 1 (most page views).
Page view numbers are as of 8 a.m. CT today, Wednesday, Dec. 31; a few more hours won’t make any significant difference in these rankings.

5) Jan. 7: The Tropicana Field soap opera has taken a curious turn, 13,510 page views
At the time I wondered if it were possible, but as far as I know, Trop repairs are nearly complete and the Rays will play their 2026 home season there. In fact, the Cubs will be the Rays’ opponent for their home (re) opener at Tropicana Field on April 6.
4) Oct. 10: Who should start NLDS Game 5 for the Cubs?, 13,991 page views
Colin Rea was the winner of the poll attached to this article. Drew Pomeranz wound up starting as an opener, followed by Rea. Cubs pitching did all right in that game, allowing just three runs, all on solo Brewers homers. The Cubs lost because they scored just once, on a solo homer by Seiya Suzuki.
