With the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2026 outlook not looking so bright at the moment, there’s been a lot of talk about the team being active as sellers ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
Much of that focus revolves around key names, such as Saquon Barkley.
But here’s talk of a more fringe roster player being available.
Hollywood Brown is “a name that teams seeking [wide receiver] help believe could be traded in the coming weeks,” according to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
This kind of report seems
like an effort by Brown’s representation to get teams interested in him to find him a new NFL home with more opportunity than he has in Philly. At the same time, I’m sure Howie Roseman would love to get anything he can in a trade for him as opposed to just having to cut Brown.
But I’m not so sure teams will be knocking down the Eagles’ door to make a deal happen.
Brown mostly struggled during offseason practices, which explains why he was active but played zero snaps in Week 1. The Eagles then got him involved with some designed touches in Week 2 … but he still only played 17 snaps.
Brown then missed the Eagles’ next three games due to an ankle injury. He was not listed on the Eagles’ final injury report entering Week 6 … but the team kept him inactive behind six active receivers (DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, Elijah Moore, and Britain Covey) as a healthy scratch.
So, it’s clear that Brown doesn’t have a role in Philly. And it’s clear that he would welcome a new NFL home.
It’s hard to believe the Eagles will get much, if anything, for him in a trade. They might just have to cut a player they signed to a one-year, $5 million contract earlier this year.
