Men’s Golf
Returners: Akshay Anand (Sr.), Jeremy Chen (Jr.), Archie Finnie (Jr.), Mark Gazi (So.), Daniel Svärd (Sr.), Ethan Tseng (Sr.)
Losses: Cameron Adam, Aidan Kramer, Niall Shiels-Donegan
Additions: Monty Holcombe (Fr.), Isaac Lee (Fr.), Rowan Sullivan (R-So.)
Coming off of a Big Ten championship in the 2023-24 season, Northwestern Men’s Golf was unable to repeat the same success in 2024-25. Headed into the 2025-26 season, the ‘Cats lose Niall Shiels-Donegan, Cameron Adam and Aidan Kramer. Despite these
departures, NU does stack up well to remain competitive in the Big Ten.
Daniel Svärd comes back after another dominant junior season that earned him his second consecutive unanimous All-Big Ten First Team selection. Ethan Tseng is looking to get back to his 2023-24 version after not having the season he had hoped for off of a First Team All-Big Ten campaign. Archie Finnie is looking to continue his development and earn a spot in the starting five for the ‘Cats, as is Jeremy Chen. Akshay Anand has shown flashes and is going to try and improve his consistency heading into the 2025-26 season. Mark Gazi was able to get some experience as a freshman last season and will also make a push to be a starter for NU.
Northwestern also brings in three new additions to the roster: Monty Holcombe from England, Isaac Lee from Hong Kong and redshirt sophomore transfer Rowan Sullivan from Vanderbilt. Holcombe has represented the England and Ireland team twice before, while Lee is a back-to-back Hong Kong Open Amateur Champion, a member of the Hong Kong National Team and a U.S. Junior Amateur participant. Both of these new faces seem poised to make an impact right away. Sullivan was solid for the Commodores last season after not playing in 2023-24 and appearing in 15 rounds last season. Despite losing some key pieces, the ‘Cats have a lot to be excited about headed into the new season. They will tee off on September 6 at the Sahalee Players Championship to get the show on the road.
Women’s Golf
Returners: Dianna Lee (Sr.), Megan Meng (So.), Hsin Tai Lin (So.), Jiayi Wang (Sr.), Ashley Yun (Jr.)
Losses: Lauryn Nguyen, Elise Lee
Additions: Arianna Lau (Fr.), Lauren E. Lee (Fr.)
What a season. Northwestern Women’s Golf shocked the world by upsetting No. 1 Stanford to win its first ever National Championship. This victory brings momentum, confidence and attention to the program to help build for the future. The 2025-26 season will be very different though: Lauryn Nguyen has graduated. Nguyen had a stellar senior season which included an All First-Team Big Ten selection for the third consecutive year along with receiving an All-American Honorable Mention. Nguyen is moving on to play professionally, but her legacy she leaves behind at Northwestern will forever be cemented. The rest of the team though is ready to run it back.
Ashley Yun returns as Northwestern’s top player after being named to the All-Big Ten First Team and earning an All-American Honorable Mention. Dianna Lee, the National Championship hero, is also returning after proving she has the clutch gene amidst last year’s NCAA Championship run. On the flip side, freshman standout Elise Lee has transferred to USC to be closer to home after earning All-Big Ten Second Team honors. Hsin Tai Lin showed immense promise for the ‘Cats in her debut season, including some big wins in NCAA match play. Another rising sophomore, Megan Meng, showed flashes in her limited action and is expected to take a step forward in year two. Rising senior Jiayi Wang didn’t play much in 2024-25, but she is looking to expand her role in 2025-26.
The Wildcats have two new additions to this roster. The first being Arianna Lau from Hong Kong. She is the 47th-ranked amateur golfer in the world, has won the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation’s Junior Championship two years in a row and also competed in the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She is looking to make an immediate impact for Northwestern to help Emily Fletcher and Co. defend the title. The second new face is Lauren E. Lee from Irvine, California. She won the 2024 Chappy Wheeler Invitational, was the runner-up at the AJGA Brandon Wu Championship and won both the FCG National Tour Labor Day Championship and SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup Mission Hills event in 2023. With the newly earned attention on this program, the ‘Cats have the opportunity to start a new era of consistent success in women’s golf.
