Ansu Fati’s father says the forward’s proposed transfer from Barcelona to Monaco has not been closed yet and claims other clubs are keen on the 23-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that Barcelona and Monaco have reached agreement on an 11 million euro transfer for the forward, but Fati’s father Bori says the speculation is not completely accurate.
“It is not true that the deal has been finalized, things are not finished yet, it is still too early until June 30,” he told WinWin.
“There
are still some pending matters. We have to wait for the agent Jorge Mendes, who is there and is currently talking with the club’s management, and we are also waiting to hear what Barcelona will say.
“We are waiting to hear what Barcelona will say, because the June 30th deadline has not yet arrived, and we are still committed to Monaco at the moment. Next week the picture will probably be clearer, and everything you hear is not true. As of now, we have not signed anything yet.
“Neither Flick nor Deco have spoken to Ansu at all, and Deco will speak with his agent Jorge Mendes after he returns from his vacation in Brazil, and we will decide everything next week.”
Bori Fati says his son will not continue at Barcelona but does have interest from other clubs as well as Monaco. He added: “No, he won’t stay at Barcelona. There are many clubs that want him now, but we want to stay at Monaco.”
Fati has spent the season on loan in Monaco, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, and it looks as though the Ligue 1 side are his preferred choice as long as terms can be agreed.
