It was supposed to be a fun start to the week for the Braves. Michael Harris, Ronald Acuna Jr., and others had another big offensive game as the Braves earned their ninth straight victory. Other fun news occurred throughout the day as well, and it seemed like the season was going to end on plenty of good vibes.
However, that is rarely ever the case for the Braves nowadays. Just when you think things are starting to go on the upswing, another injury occurs that throws cold water all over the positivity.
This time, it was Ozzie Albies exiting the game on Monday after fracturing his hamate bone. Yes, it is in the same wrist area where he suffered a broken bone last year.
It is just simply highly unfortunate for Albies. For much of this season, it was pretty clear he was struggling with his swing and approach as he was trying to fully get back to normal from last year’s injury. And now, he will have the face a similar recovery all over again. There is little doubt the injury will heal and Albies will be healthy and ready to go in Spring Training. The concern is how long will it take Albies to return to his full ability of production in 2026 after struggling with the same issue for much of 2025. This goes along with the realization the Braves can ill afford a repeat in 2026 of what Albies has offered for much of 2025. The injury just simply adds more questions to what already was going to be a fascinating off-season.
Braves News
The other moves of the day that were notable for the Braves was the claim of former Brewers reliever Joel Payamps and the Braves bring back Charlie Morton to finish the season with Atlanta. Carson Ragsdale and Connor Seabold were designated for assignment and Jhancarlos Lara was returned to the minors in corresponding moves. Morton returning is a fun development, and it will be interesting to see where the Braves may use him this week.
