It’s Monday, and we are back at it! Fresh off a weekend of football games, there was a lot of action! News will continue to come your way, and we are here for it all. Check out our original coverage and what we can find from the World Wide Web below.
UNLV looks improved against Sam Houston
After nearly getting upset during their Week 0 game, the Rebels looked like a more complete team, in control from the get-go. The passing game was featured more, as Anthony Colandrea scored twice through the air and once on the ground. The defense had
perhaps the biggest jump in production, notching an interception and holding Sam Houston to a measly 1 for 12 on third down. UNLV moves to 2-0 on the young season.
Aggies open up the season with a victory.
The Mendenhall era in Logan got off to a fun start, as they defeated UTEP by scoring in a variety of ways. The offense wasn’t sharp, but it featured a plethora of big plays from quarterback Bryson Barnes and running back Miles Davis. The defense had a number of miscues but stepped up in the second half and at the end of the game, only let up 16 points. Offensive line has a lot to clean up, as does the rest of the team, but it’s nice to start the year with a win.
Bulldogs bounce back by beating Eagles.
Fresno State used a dynamic rushing attack, with four different running backs getting explosive plays at one time or another in the game. They actually traded blows with Georgia Southern for much of the first half, with the Eagles holding a 14-13 advantage at halftime. But Rayshon Luke paced the team with three touchdowns and Bryson Donelson torched the defense with 167 yards on the ground. Matt Entz gets his first win with Fresno State.
Lobos hold their own in Ann Arbor.
No one gave New Mexico a chance going on the road against Michigan. However, they were able to hold their own and make the Wolverines sweat more than they expected. They trailed 24-10 at halftime and 27-17 after three quarters, when many thought they would have been blown out by the end of the first half. The Lobos actually scored their first touchdown in the red zone on a nicely executed trick play. Hopefuly a sign of things to come for this team.
