Yesterday (Sept. 23), a friend of MLW and independent wrestler AKIRA posted a handful of text message screenshots and screenshots along with a link to an archive of many more. They were said to be evidence
of physical, emotional, and mental abuse AKIRA suffered while in a relationship with TNA star Masha Slamovich.
In response, TNA issued a statement saying they were looking into the matter, and has pulled promotion of a planned Knockouts title match between current champ Ash By Elegance and former champ Slamovich from Friday’s Victory Road streaming special. At least two indies have announced plans to replace the 27-year-old Slamovich on their upcoming shows.
Tonight, Slamovich has posted what she says will be her “only statement” on the accusations. She seems to take responsibility for her part in a “toxic and mutually destructive relationship”, and says she’s getting help to deal with the issues displayed in the released texts and photos. Before closing, Masha apologizes to her ex and others she’s disappointed:
Up until the beginning of this year, I was in a toxic and mutually destructive relationship. We hurt each other deeply, and in private moments, failed to treat each other with the consideration and respect we both deserve.
I take responsibility for my actions and I am sorry, embarrassed, and ashamed of the role I played in our
relationship and the way things turned out.In the time since, I have sought help to reflect on this time and deal with conflict in more mature, healthier, and sustainable ways.
I apologize to those that I let down, including my former partner. I hope he is able to heal.
This will be my only statement on the matter.
– Masha
