The Seattle Seahawks have a new wide receiver in town, and if you blink you might miss him.
Former New Orleans Saints speedster Rashid Shaheed was traded to Seattle on Tuesday, with the Seahawks giving
up fourth- and fifth-round draft picks in the process. With a full roster, someone had to be let go or placed on an injury list to get Shaheed on the squad.
Safety Jerrick Reed II was waived on Tuesday just days after he was promoted to the active roster after Julian Love was placed on injured reserve. Assuming he clears waivers (again) he’ll presumably head right back to the practice squad. Reed played seven defensive and nine special teams snaps in Seattle’s win over the Washington Commanders.
There will likely be more moves made this week, including the possibility that Christian Haynes could soon be activated off IR and onto the active roster. He has a 21-day practice window (which began last week) and will either need to be added to the 53-man squad or revert back to injured reserve. Haynes was a full participant throughout practice for the Commanders game but was still ruled out.
