The situation between rumored Bayern Munich transfer target Anthony Gordon and FC Barcelona is developing quickly.
After the initial reports broke earlier today (BFW covered them here), transfer expert Fabrizio Romano checked back in with news that Gordon is ready to ink a deal with FC Barcelona if the two clubs can agree on a deal:
🚨🔵🔴 More on Anthony Gordon.
The player is keen on joining Barcelona and ready to accept if clubs can agree.
Barça in official talks with Newcastle since last night.
Premier
League clubs still trying to enter behind the scenes, Barça has priority.
However, there still could be hope for Bayern Munich, as FC Barcelona could also be falling short on its bid per GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs:
🚨 Barcelona have opened talks with Newcastle for Anthony Gordon.
Sporting director Deco had initially felt a deal would be too expensive, but Barcelona now believe a deal could be possible for £60m. Barcelona see appeal in the fact Gordon can play as both a winger and a forward.
NUFC insist their valuation remains £75m+.
Bayern also in talks.🏴🤝@alex_crook
Finally, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg checked in to say that it was “questionable” that FC Barcelona would be able to afford Gordon:
🚨📈 Newcastle and FC Barcelona are in direct negotiations over Anthony Gordon. Confirmed.
Personal terms are clear with Barcelona and FC Bayern. But as always reported, that means little in Bayern’s case because there is still no movement in talks with #NUFC over the transfer fee. It also remains questionable whether Barcelona will be able to afford the deal.
