Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl has burst on to the scene in a big way this season.
In the first half of the season, Karl was a dynamo, who dazzled fans and frustrated opponents on his way to becoming one of the most heralded young players to emerge from Bayern Munich’s academy in years.
In the second half of the season, though, Karl hit a bit of a lull and probably made his situation for a selection to the Germany national team for the FIFA World Cup very cloudy.
Coming off of a strong performance
in Bayern Munich’s 4-1 victory over Gladbach on Friday, Karl is allowing himself to dream a little.
“Of course, I really hope to be there. It’s a very, very big dream, and that’s why I’m giving it my all every day and working very hard towards it. I’m just going all out, and then I hope it works out,” Karl told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Karl could be a very interesting change-of-pace option for Germany, who does not feature an attacker, who can seamlessly slide into open space as easily as Karl. That said, his experience level could be something that becomes prohibitive.
Karl’s inclusion — if it happens — would definitely add some intrigue to the Germans for their trip North America, though, right?
