The Sooners taketh, and so do the Wolverines.
Just one day after former Michigan linebacker Cole Sullivan committed to Oklahoma, head coach Kyle Whittingham reeled in a top running back in the transfer
portal in Oklahoma’s Taylor Tatum.
A former four-star high school recruit and the top-ranked running back in the 2024 class, the Longview, Texas native committed to Oklahoma over schools like Michigan, Alabama, USC and others. Tatum played in 11 games and made three starts as a true freshman in 2024, rushing 56 times for 278 yards and three touchdowns, while also catching five passes for 41 yards and one touchdown.
Unfortunately, Tatum had an injury-plagued second year in college and only had one carry in 2025.
With Jordan Marshall back and five-star Savion Hiter entering the program, Tatum provides depth to the running back position at the very least. This is a very welcome, high-upside addition to the room for position coach Tony Alford, especially considering Bryson Kuzdzal and Jasper Parker have left via the portal.
Tatum will have three years of collegiate eligibility remaining. He is the fourth player to commit to the Wolverines via the portal so far this winter, joining Pitt long snapper Nico Crawford, UNLV punter Cam Brown and Pitt kicker Trey Butkowski.
