Did you know it was a dead period? That’s why it’s been so quiet.
Today marks the end of the dead period, which means we should start to hear more about Mizzou Football recruiting. The news and commitments, it’s like crack. When they stop coming in with regularity you start to get the itch. I mean, it’s been a full two days since the last commitment, we need something soon!
Tuesday there were four commitments, despite it being a dead period. But that’s not uncommon as Missouri had hosted several last weekend.
The visits should be starting back up this weekend.
According
to his own social media page, Louisville edge rusher CJ May is visiting Missouri this weekend, he’s a former 4-star recruit from Alabama who is most likely being looked at as a depth piece. There are more visits lined up. I’m not sure how many of them will be super exciting or inspiring. Keep watch over the transfer portal tracker for updates, and the tracker thread on RockM+ for more.
And oh hey, Mizzou Wrestling picked up a dual win over Arizona State:

Recruiting is still going on and we’re still tracking what’s left in the portal (lots, lots are still there), but Mizzou’s activity has quieted down with this week’s dead period. That doesn’t mean we aren’t still doing recruiting resets. Yesterday was Will Kemna, a Jeff City native returning home:
Kemna, who will have all four years of eligibility remaining after redshirting last season, will be a familiar face to many in mid-Missouri. He’s a Helias graduate from Eldon, Mo., who earned first team All-State honors during his time in the Show Me State. A quick year’s dalliance to Manhattan wasn’t enough to keep him from home, though, and he’ll continue his college football career just a few miles away from where he cut his teeth. Let’s dig into what his commitment means.
You can still back track and go through each reset which we’ve attached to this Story Stream. Nathan also took a deep look at what Missouri is getting in Arizona State OT Josh Atkins:
- It’s track and field season and Sophie previews the Show-Me Showdown:
Looking ahead to a meet filled with varied competition and well-prepared athletes from across the region, Harris stressed on the importance of progress.
“In the context of getting better in the high jump, if it’s a centimeter better, it’s better, right? So, as long as we do that, I’m happy as a coach. Same thing on the sprint side, you know, if we run slightly faster, it’s better,” Harris said.
- Kellie Harper secured her first SEC victory in style last night with a walloping of Arkansas, Dylan had the details of the 94-69 destruction of the Razorbacks:
The offense was clicking on all cylinders, as the Tigers scored the most points since Nov. 11 when they put up 97 against Arkansas State (ironic). The shooting was red hot at all three levels, finishing 57.1% from the field and 68% from three. This all started with the passing, as Mizzou racked up 20 assists for a 1.3 assist/turnover ratio. By comparison, Arkansas finished with a 0.4 ratio in the same stat.
The SEC is a bear, and the entry to league play has been ungenerous for the lady Tigers, so credit to them for taking advantage of a lesser opponent and putting it on them.
- Also, look at me getting Study Hall out on the right day! Missouri beat Auburn and I got to write about it:
Mark Mitchell was terrific (yet again). 20 points, 7 made field goals, 5 assists, a steal and a block. Basically a perfect night, if you just forget about the 8 missed free throws. He started the season poorly (6/15), but in between he made 72 of 98 (73%). So last night was bad for him, but the free throw shooting woes aren’t really Mark’s fault (except for last night). But there was a moment early in the second half where Mark just made it clear he knew there was nobody on the Auburn roster who could guard him. He took 13 shots, went to the line 14 times, and again had four assists. Plus two turnovers and he was responsible for 5 assists which led to 14 points. So he was responsible for about 40% of the offensive output.
In this space we appreciate Mark Mitchell even if he has a few bumps in his FT shooting.
