Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Browns fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
As we continue our Reacts polls leading up to Cleveland Browns training camp, now we focus on the team’s most potent weapon on offense last year: tight end Harold Fannin.
The rookie third-rounder excelled, leading the team with 72 catches for 731 yards and 6 touchdowns. Even though
David Njoku missed 5 games during the season, his stats paled in comparison in his final year with the team, as he logged 33 catches for 293 yards and 4 touchdowns.
There was a clear changing-of-the-guard at the tight end position, and it made it easier for the team to lead Njoku walk as a free agent this offseason. Fannin made all the big catches, and always had a knack for taking on contact and gaining several yards after that (seemingly on every play — it was kind of crazy).
What that in mind, what are your expectations for Fannin in year two, with respect to his receiving yards? Your instincts might say that he’ll have an even better season. But, we also have to remember that Cleveland heavily lacked productive weapons at the receiving position last year. If rookie receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston play big roles in the offense, it’s possible that Fannin still has a great year, but with the same or lesser stats than he did as a rookie.
