There may be some encouraging signs for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jamel Dean.
Dean was reportedly seen without the walking boot inside the Steelers’ facility Tuesday, an encouraging development as Pittsburgh prepares for Sunday’s matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
Dean aggravated an ankle injury during last Thursday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns and did not return to the game. He had initially been dealing with the same ankle issue heading into the Browns matchup, and reports indicated he could
miss multiple weeks.
Pittsburgh could certainly use the veteran cornerback against Indianapolis, particularly with the team already dealing with significant turnover at cornerback. If Dean cannot go, Asante Samuel Jr. and rookie Daylen Everette will continue to see expanded roles.
The fact that Dean is already out of the boot is a step in the right direction, but his practice participation will be the biggest indicator of whether he has a realistic chance to return Sunday.
