The Atlanta Braves announced late Thursday night that they have acquired catcher Joey Bart from the Pittsburgh Pirates. In exchange, the Pirates will receive right-hander Hunter Stratton. To make room on the roster, catcher Sandy León was designated for assignment.
Bart will be the eighth Braves catcher this season. A Buford native, Bart was drafted by the San Francisco Giants, where he spent parts of four seasons before heading to Pittsburgh. He has a career .240 batting average and has logged 2521.2
innings behind the plate.
He has been on the IL with a foot infection but should be ready to go to suit up for Atlanta.
