Dro Fernandez has rocked Barcelona by informing the club he wants to leave in January and is now expected to seal a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
Hansi Flick has been especially affected, with reports claiming the Barcelona boss has said the move is the “biggest disappointment of his career.”
The Barcelona boss certainly didn’t want to talk about Dro at his press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against Real Sociedad but did send out a strong message to the club’s young La Masia stars.
“My message
is about daily training. When players arrive with potential, we have a plan to monitor their training, performance, and attitude, to see if they’re professional,” he said.
“We’re a big team, and it’s not easy to get playing time. That’s clear. But every training session makes these players better. This is the normal process, and when they deserve to play, then of course they play.”
So why is Flick so upset by Fernandez’s decision? According to Cadena Ser, the reason is simply that Dro “was his future project, the apple of his eye.”
The report goes further to highlight how “Lamine will always belong to Xavi, and Dro was his” and claims that when Flick was asked if he was sad, angry or disappointed about Dro he answered “a mixture of all three.”
