His stable does have three title matches this Sunday at AEW’s new Redemption PPV in Montreal, so it makes sense that Don Callis’ Family got the first 45 minutes or so of Dynamite tonight (July 22).
Our first match was a Callis Family defense, as TNT champion Kevin Knight put his belt on the line against the man he attacked while turning heel to join the DCF, Darby Allin. We were informed that Knight informed his teammates to not get involved, and they didn’t. He blasted Allin with his title belt before
hitting the same move that put Darby on the injured list when they went one-on-one last year…
… followed by a UFO to retain.
Don and Jet’s siblings showed up to celebrate, and to hype the matches they’ll be in at Redemption beyond the TNT champ’s shot at Kenny Omega and the AEW World title (Mark Davis defending the National against former DCF member Andrade El Ídolo, and Kyle Fletcher putting the International on the line against Ring of Honor World champion Bandido). Things got very tense between Don’s young guns Knight and Fletcher.
To one up the TNT champ, the International one said he made sure everyone would be banned at ringside for his match with Kazuchika Okada (ProtOkada!) against Bandido and Brody King (Brodido!).
Maybe he should have banned his tag partner from the match. Okada’s been bristling at the Protostar calling himself the greatest International champion of all-time, and didn’t seem to be that upset about this “miscommunication”:
That helped the ROH World champ get the pin on Fletcher, which the Aussie was not at all happy about…
… but yeah, the Rainmaker is not sorry about that Rainmaker…
