The Cincinnati Bengals have been linked through insiders to be checking in on a possible trade for running back Jonathan Taylor from the Indianapolis Colts, but another running back may be just as good of a target. The New York Jets may be looking to see what they can get for running back Breece Hall as he gets healthy from a quad injury.
Jason Buechler from Sports Illustrated also brought up a good point for Hall being a decent target for teams:
Hall is in the first year of a three-year contract,
so this is more than a rental. Hall could slot into the Bengals’ offense and take over the backfield immediately. With the Ohio team holding all its 2027 draft picks, including an extra third-rounder, New York could push for the Bengals’ second-round pick.
While it is true that Hall and Taylor both have two years left on their contracts after this season (Hall has a couple void years attached to his), Hall’s overall cap hit and age are much closer to what Cincinnati would prefer to take on. Not to mention the team could cut ties very easily before the 2028 season and save roughly $12 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap. Taylor’s deal has a similar out, but his caph hit exceeds $20 million starting next season.
The other thing here to consider is the cost. A third round pick could get this pick done for a player who is still well within their prime while also costing less money. Taylor is a wonderful player, but considering the Colts would like a multiple pick return which would seemingly need to include a second round pick, it makes that a hard pill to swallow.
We are of course playing in the hypothetical space where the team had to choose one. I think a vast majority of fans would agree that adding a couple of players to the back seven would do worlds more to improve this team overall than a running back.

Joe Burrow Voted as FedEx Air & Ground Player of Week 8
The second straight week that Burrow has earned this award. You could say that only one of his interceptions was completely on him (you could argue Armani Hooker made a great defensive play on the interception in front of Mike Gesicki). However, It is hard to argue against five passing touchdowns and looking incredible outside of those three throws.
Tee Higgins Named AFC Offensive Player of The Week
A double award week! 10 catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns is nothing to sneeze at. It is also worth noting Higgins ranks only behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 726 receiving yards and over 100 yards averaged per game. Truly, the Bengals have two wide receiver ones.
Bengals fan from Canada meets players during team’s trip to Madrid
Always just nice to see a feel good story from time to time. It also reminds us that these international games do in fact help spread the sport. As much as some of us are chagrin to wake up early on a Sunday morning to get stressed out over a Bengals game.

NFL Network: Cardinals to trade QB Jacoby Brissett to Ravens
This became the most obvious trade after the Baltimore Ravens lost Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley seemingly for the season, and the Arizona Cardinals benched Brissett for Gardner Minshew to lead a comeback against the Dallas Cowboys. It was a bit funny seeing some Ravens’ fans thinking they had a chance of Joe Flacco returning.
Brandon Aiyuk files to be reinstated from 49ers’ reserve/left squad list
Just a truly wild rollercoaster story that goes all the way back to Aiyuk essentially going AWOL against the team that paid him a lucrative deal that he fought for. Now we may get the next chapter as he will force the 49ers hands to either cut him or clear a roster spot for him.
Week 9 NFL MVP tracker: Can Caleb Williams join Joe Montana in making history?
Burrow finds himself officially in the MVP chatter after exploding these last couple of weeks. According to this ranking he falls behind Brock Purdy and Josh Allen for consideration. It will be quite interesting to see how this race plays out as the season continues.
