Eric Garcia has urged Barcelona to learn from Sunday’s victory over Levante after the Catalans let slip two late goals.
Barcelona cruised into a 3-0 lead thanks to a brace from Lamine Yamal and a goal from Xavi Espart. However, Levante set up a nervy finish by grabbing two goals late on.
Substitute Karim Adeyemi managed to seal the win with another strike in stoppage time, but Garcia says Barcelona need to improve.
“The grass wasn’t helping much, the time of day, the heat… it’s a difficult pitch. They
hadn’t lost since March. It was tough, but we made it more difficult for ourselves than necessary. It should serve as a lesson that if you give an opponent any breathing room, they’ll turn on you,” he told Movistar.
“These are mistakes we can avoid. We played a good game overall. We can be happy.”
Barcelona’s four goals means they have now scored 21 times in just five La Liga games, with Erica admitting Flick’s side possess a fearsome frontline.
“We feel comfortable with the ball. We have players in midfield and defense who can play well with the ball. Up front we have animals and beasts who are very good in space and do damage,” he added.
“The manager is showing his confidence in Espart. We’re very happy with him. He has to keep working. Nobody can rest on their laurels because there’s a lot of competition in the team.”
Barcelona are back in action again midweek when they host Racing at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
