The date for the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer-Supercup has been set for August 22. The Supercup is traditionally played between the Bundesliga champion and the winner of the DFB-Pokal. Since Bayern Munich has already clinched the league, they will be playing in the Super Cup regardless of Saturday’s Pokal final. If Bayern completes the double on Saturday, they will face Borussia Dortmund — Bundesliga runners up. If Stuttgart pulls off the upset and wins the Pokal, they will face Bayern in the Supercup for the second
year in a row.
Traditionally, the Supercup has been hosted by the Pokal winner (or league runner up), as the Bundesliga champion generally hosted the Bundesliga opener. If Bayern Munich matches up against Dortmund, we will likely see the match held at Signal Induna park. Since Stuttgart hosted Bayern Munich this season, we could see Bayern hosting if we have a rematch.
The Supercup will be the same weekend as the opening round of next season’s DFB-Pokal — one week before the first Bundesliga matchday. The participants of the Supercup will play their first round matches midweek on September 1 or 2.
