Michigan Football will hit the road for the first time this season, taking on the Minnesota Golden Gophers this Saturday afternoon (noon on FOX). The Wolverines were without a few major contributors along the offensive line last week against Iowa, and it’s still to be determined if some of them will be able to return this weekend, according to the initial Big Ten Conference injury report that was just released on Wednesday evening.
Here is this week’s initial injury report.
Out
- WR Braydon Alford
- RB Micah Ka’apana
- RB Jonathan Brown
- DE Julius Holly
- OL Ace Hamilton
- OL Andrew Babalola
Questionable
- WR Andrew Marsh
- Edge rusher Dom Nichols
- OL Andrew Sprague
- OL Houston Ka’aha’aina-Torres
- OL Manuel Beigel
- DE John Henry Daley
Probable
- OL Blake Frazier
For a second straight week,
running back Jordan Marshall is nowhere to be seen on the injury report. He left the game a couple weeks back against UTEP, and also appeared to be hobbled quite a bit last week vs Iowa. That’s reassuring, as the run game will be needed against the Gophers this weekend.
After missing last week’s game, it’s good to see Beigel be upgraded to questionable. It seems as if he should be good to go for this weekend, but if for some reason he isn’t ready, Michigan will likely turn to sophomore Avery Gach, who filled in for Beigel last week.
Elsewhere along the offensive line, Frazier is deemed probable to play this weekend after getting banged up last week. It’s still unclear what exactly is going on with Sprague, but he is listed as questionable once again. As for the defensive line, both of Michigan’s star edge rushers are listed as questionable after suffering respective injuries in the Iowa game.
Finally, Marsh is a new addition to the injury report. He didn’t appear to leave the game at any point last week, so it will be interesting to see if he’s able to play and what exactly is going on with him. If he is unable to go, expect more production from JJ Buchanan, Salesi Moa and Travis Johnson, among others.
