Hello CSR! We’re just 18 days away from the Panthers regular season opener. That means today, we’re taking a deeper dive into number 18 on the roster: everybody’s favorite UDFA wide receiver Jalen Coker!
Jalen Coker entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024 out of Holy Cross, albeit one that garnered a bit of attention and one the Panthers signed to a lucrative UDFA deal. Still, he did not end up making the final 53 man roster cut, as the Panthers waived him. They ended up bringing him back
to the practice squad after he cleared waivers, and he then saw himself activated to the active roster in late September. Coker went on to see time in 11 games, caught 32 passes for 478 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Panthers seemed to have found a gem, one that many would argue outperformed 2024 first round pick Xavier Legette.
Coker is now expected to fill the WR4 role at the least for the Panthers, and had a stellar preseason opener showcase where he caught the Panthers only passing touchdown of the preseason so far. He actually ended up filling in with the 1s in that game after Legette got himself ejected after a brawl with the Browns. Personally, I am a proud owner of Jalen Coker in dynasty fantasy football, and have a bet that he will definitely make the 53 man roster for the Panthers in 2025. What are your thoughts on Coker?
