Late last week, it became clear that FC Barcelona’s interest in Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi was genuine and that head coach Hansi Flick was driving the pursuit.
Now, it looks like a deal is on the verge of being complete, as Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg provided the latest update on the situation. Borussia Dortmund will not get the 40 million that it was rumored to desire, but the fee is likely fair give that Adeyemi wanted out and BVB would have risked losing him for free.
The sell-on fee is probably pleasing to Borussia Dortmund as well:
🚨🩺 Karim Adeyemi, as expected, was absent from Borussia Dortmund’s performance tests. His move to FC Barcelona is planned to be finalised in the coming days.
EXCL DET: €22m fixed plus €9m in add-ons + 35 % sell-on clause with €6m net per season on a five-year contract. @berger_pj 🇩🇪
Adeyemi is a curious case. He seems like a player with untapped potential, but is also considered to be an underachiever. His recent omission from the German national team indicates that he has some work to do on his game, but if anyone can unlock Adeyemi, it is probably Flick.
