Who will be NY Giants’ most important 2026 free-agent signing? | The Record
The New York Giants have a Super Bowl winner and possible Hall of Famer at head coach in John Harbaugh, with whom the entire team can strive for a championship standard the franchise has failed to meet for far too long now.
The standing ovation for Harbaugh from the assembled Giants fans inside Beacon Theatre back in May for the team’s Town Hall event was only just the beginning.

New York Giants: Dennard Wilson, defensive coordinator. While new head coach John Harbaugh’s arrival will have the biggest impact on the Giants’ fortunes, there’s an understanding of what to expect from his 18 years in Baltimore. The more intriguing addition is defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, a highly regarded defensive mind despite two underwhelming seasons leading a Tennessee Titans defense devoid of talent. Wilson has pieces, particularly at edge rusher, to develop a formidable unit that underachieved under former DC Shane Bowen. The longtime defensive back coach’s ability to generate better play from a secondary full of premium investments will go a long way in determining the Giants’ fate.

New York Giants: QB Jaxson Dart. While Dart went just 4-8 as a starter, he tallied 2,272 passing yards, 487 rushing yards, 24 combined rushing and passing touchdowns, and a 91.7 quarterback rating.
Now in his first offseason as the unquestioned starter, Dart is poised to build on what he accomplished as a rookie. Dart will need to do a better job of protecting himself moving forward, but he has the potential to make New York’s offense truly special.

New York Giants. Sign of the times: Could politics divide Giants’ roster. The realities of the polarizing American political climate manifested in the New York Giants’ locker room in May when differing views between quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge rusher Abdul Carter came to a head. Dart introduced President Donald Trump on stage at a rally for New York Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, to which Carter responded on social media: “Thought this shit was AI, what we doing man?”
While Carter followed up and clarified that he and Dart are on good terms after speaking with each other on the issue, that dust-up grew legs and raised questions about whether a political wedge could be driven between two of the Giants’ biggest stars. Dart held a locker room meeting to address his teammates on the matter, which by all accounts was productive and cooled tensions. Time will tell whether that was all lip service or if they cannot overcome their differences.
New York Giants 2026 Penalties: Discipline & Hidden Edges | Sharp Football Analysis
The Giants have been one of the most dysfunctional franchises over the past decade and are banking on the arrival of John Harbaugh providing stability at the head coaching position. On paper, the G-Men’s impressive front seven has the potential to wreak havoc. But it’s on the offensive side of the ball where New York’s season will be determined. Their “big three” of Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and Malik Nabers are all injury-prone, and that trio remaining healthy is vital if the Giants plan to return to prominence.
Strategic offseason moves have generated a ton of hype, and the Giants are one of the more intriguing teams going into the season. In reality, they are at least a year away from legitimate contender tier status. If everything aligns in their favor, the Giants can finish around .500 and possibly push for a Wild Card spot.
