Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson just unexpectedly announced a friendly exhibition match for spring 2026, but the two legendary boxers may actually have some bad blood heading into next year.
While eras and weight classes separated Mayweather and Tyson from actually fighting in the past, the two shared some drama back in 2015 leading up to Mayweather’s long-awaited superfight with Manny Pacquiao. “Money” was drawing comparisons to the great Muhammad Ali at that time and Tyson was ultimately asked to weigh in.
“Iron Mike” held nothing back in shutting down any comparison between Mayweather and Ali.
“He’s very delusional,” said Tyson in his 2015 interview with Undisputed Champion Network (shown above). “If he was anywhere near that realm of the great Ali, he’d be able to take his kids to school.
“He can’t take his kids to school by himself, and he’s talking about he’s great? Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people, greatness is being accepted by the people.”
“He can’t take his kids, alone, to school, by himself,” added Tyson. “He’s a little scared man. He’s a very small, scared man.”
Over 10 years removed from those comments and the two all-time boxing greats will duke it out inside of the ring. It’s unknown at this time if the contest will be a competitive one or more of a “Money” cash grab, but it’ll still be a historic moment and the only chance either Mayweather or Tyson have to settle any actual bad blood.
