Real Madrid’s busy summer continued on Thursday with the confirmed signing of 19-year-old striker Carlos Espí from Levante after reportedly paying a release clause of €25 million.
Espí had been linked with Barcelona as one of the possible alternatives to Julián Álvarez and scored 13 goals in 27 games last season, and has an interesting profile as a big, powerful striker with good heading ability and finishing prowess.
With Barça’s struggles to land Álvarez and time running out before the club is able
to bring in a new number nine ahead of the start of the season, this certainly feels like a missed opportunity for the Catalans, especially at that price.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Will Barcelona regret losing Carlos Espí to Real Madrid?
