The Big Ten and Big Ten Network announced Wednesday the launch of the Big Ten Discover Volleyball challenge, an in-season competition in October that will begin this season.
Each Big Ten team will have five of their preexisting games across October count for the challenge. The team with the highest win total will be named champion. The Discover Volleyball Challenge is set to become a yearly event for the conference.
The Terps’ five challenge games will come against Illinois, USC, Indiana and twice against Rutgers. The matchup with the Scarlet Knights on Oct. 15 will air on the Big Ten Network, while the remaining games will stream on Big Ten Plus.
Maryland opens Big Ten play Thursday on the road at Iowa. Its first challenge game will come Oct. 3 at Rutgers.
