What is the story about?
Today is the eve of the NFL draft. Several of UW’s teams are ranked or have been honored this week.
Football Dots
- The NFL draft begins tomorrow. Will UW have another player chosen in the first round? Possibly. Denzel Boston continues to get late first round selections in some mock drafts. Mark Schafer has his draft profile of Denzel Boston. Andrew Berg has his profile on Jonah Coleman who is probably a day 2 (Friday) selection.
- Washington is #16 in all-time NFL Draft selections behind UCLA and just ahead of Michigan State.
- The College Football Playoff governance committee is meeting this week and there is a push to expand the playoffs to 24 teams.
- UW had spring practice #10 yesterday. It was a relatively light practice after the scrimmaging last Saturday. Just 4 more practices before the spring game.
- Roman Tomashoff has an article on yesterday’s practice and focuses on the competition between the WR’s and the DB’s.
- Dan Raley’s article on the practice focused on one player who did not practice: transfer DL Kai McClendon. While he did not practice, he was out and was working on some boxing. He also pointed out the transfer OL Kolt Dietrich was in uniform and did take some practice snaps-although he was limited.
- Dawgman had an interview after practice with sophomore Dylan Robinson who is now 6’3” and 210 lbs. Since he got his feet wet last year, he’s “really looking to make an impact this year”.

UW Athletics Dots
- Andrew Berg has his weekly update on UW Softball which is now ranked #22 after dropping 3 games to the Ducks-their first conference losses of the season.
- UW Baseball got the win yesterday over the University of Portland. The Huskies dominated the Pilots, winning 8-1. UW returns to Big Ten conference play this weekend at Michigan.
- UW Men’s Rowing will be competing at Redwood Shores against Cal this Saturday.
- Mayamay Brown and Ellis Hay were honored as the “Pair of the Week” in Women’s Beach Volleyball.
- UW’s Women’s Basketball received a commitment from Colorado State transfer guard Brooke Carlson.
- Transfer guard Parker Friedrichsen has officially signed with the UW Men’s Basketball team.
- The National Champion UW Men’s Soccer team was honored at the Mariners’ game on Tuesday night.
- And UW Softball’s Sis Bates was at the Mariners’s game last night.
- UW Women’s Track and Field team is ranked #18 this week.
